A wall is shown covered with pictures of people who have made an impact in World History. Mike Rutherford comes and stops in the middle where there are no pictures. He smiles at the camera.
I bet you are asking yourself why this wall is covered with pictures. I mean right here is a picture of Abraham Lincoln. Right there is a picture of Jackie Robinson. Above it? Rosa Parks. And far to the left? Clara Barton. Above it? George W Bush. Wait..whoa hold on. Who the hell put his picture up here!
Mike takes the picture down.
Nobody wants to see a picture of that idiot. But anyway what am I doing here among the pictures? Simple. Like them I am a hero. I am someone you can look up to. Okay true I do cuss on occasion but I’m sure Abe Lincoln here was known to let some words fly when he was learning about battles his side won. Anyway as I was sitting at home one day I stopped and caught sight of SNW. And what I saw was heartbreaking. Where are the heroes of this company? Where are the ones that the kids can look up to? Everyone’s claiming to be this or that. One even claims to be a prophet. Those come a dime a dozen but heroes? We need more of them.
Want proof? Let’s start with an interviewer. His name? I.P. Freely. Who wants a hero named that! I bet his parents are sooo proud of him. Then there is someone I heard bad mouthing me: Koko B. Ware. Koko you can’t be a hero! Birds can’t be heroes! They flap wings, not save people!!
And that is why I am here! Parents let me be the hero of your kids! Let me be the one they can write papers about! Let me be what drives you and inspires you! And when I am done here in the SNW, it won’t be long until you one day see my picture on this wall!
Mike moves out of the way where there is a picture of himself on the wall, pointing at himself. Mike smiles and walks off as “Holding Out for a Hero” plays.
