~ Sitting in a dark room, with no light what so ever. A door opens, and a beam of pale colored light comes from the hallway into the darkened room. The light outlines a body hunched over, and what looks like, sitting in some sort of chair. A kind and gentle female voice from the hallway enters the room~
Hallway voice: Sir? Are you ok? Do you need any assistance?
~ The figures head in the dark room, lifts up as a gruff, defeated male sounding voice comes from the room ~
Dark Room Voice: I'm ok! I made it another day...
Hallway Voice: Sir, no one said it was going to be easy!
Dark Room Voice: No one said it was going to be hell either....
Hallway Voice: Before you where taken into this facility, you where given a brief introduction to our treatment protocols... where you not?
Dark Room Voice: I know, I just had no idea things would be this bad.
Hallway voice: When one try's to stop an addiction, it is always a hard battle to fight.
Dark Room Voice: That's what they keep on telling me.
Hallway Voice: Would you like me to turn on the light and make sure you get into bed safely?
Dark Room Voice: Maybe tomorrow.
Hallway Voice: If you need anything, please call the stand by unit.
Dark Room Voice: I will..... and thank you!
~ Before the door closes, you can see the figure in the chair stand up and walk over to what looks like in the shadows to be a bed. The figure lays down and the light from the hallway fades away as the door that leads to the hallway closes. The gruff and defeated voice returns as the man in the room starts to talk out loud to him self~
Dark Room Voice: Dear God, before I shut my eyes for the night, I pray that when I wake up, that this fight I'm facing will not defeat me, but will only make me stronger and once I return to the job I love, I will be ready for anything that comes my way. It's been five hard months since I been here. And, I only think it's time for me to get back on my feet and face this all like a man.
Amen! ....
And, God before I end this prayer... I know it's been a long time since you have heard from me, so just in case my voice does not sound familiar... it's only me.... Scott Jacobs!
