OK, I'm not sure if Matt will want to adopt this since he has SNO and I've got GNO. However, this is just for me. One of the things that really slowed me this week in writing the show was having to edit segments. The spelling, grammar, and formatting was just laborious to be totally honest. I realize we've never set down a set format for this, so I'm not bitching at anyone. If I did I'd have no room too. However, when you send in a segment for GNO now there will be a format you will need to follow. This will cut down on having to edit them heavily, giving us more time to actually write. So, here we go:
If you are writing non- dialogue, such as "Vincent Matthews walks up to IP Freely" you make it white and italicized. For example Vincent Matthews walks up to IP Freely.
When you are writing dialogue, you write the person's name in all caps like this: IP FREELY. Then, when you are writing the actual words you hit enter once, then write your talk. This is also bolded, in whatever color your character is. Example IP FREELY
Here with Vincent Matthews. Vincent, what um do you like this gig?
Also, you need to center it all. So, if I combined all of these together to show you how a segment needs to look, it would be like this:
There you go. It's a simple enough format. When it comes to spelling and grammar, you really need to do the best you can. I realize some of you aren't in the US, so it's not going to be perfect. For you all, just do the very best you can. This is the format I want for GNO, and if I don't get it more than likely I won't use what you send me. I love that I've been getting segments more and more lately, and this is something that I'm instating simply because I want to get shows out quicker to you and this will help.
