-News coming out of SNW affiliate, PCW, mentions that SNW & PCW Stable, the Destruction Crew, have just become PCW Champions. Destruction Crew members, Mauler & Mike Hanson, were last minute replacements for a longtime PCW Tag Team known as the Crazy 88's.
Apparently, the Crazy 88's were supposed to take on defending champs, Kobra's Law, as well as the Williams Brothers at a Pay-Per-View known as Mayhem II. However, the Crazy 88's had been jumped & badly beaten earlier in the show, preventing them from competing.
Since the promoter wanted the match to remain as a Triple Threat Tag Title Match, it was decided to find a team that wasn't scheduled for the show. Since none of the Destruction Crew was booked for the main part of the show (only working a battle royal before the show), they were thrown in as last minute replacements.
To make things complicated, the Destruction Crew has "The Freebird" Stipulation in the collective contracts. For those unfamiliar with the "Freebird Rule", any two members of a trio/stable can defend the groups tag team titles, no matter which two members actually won the tag titles.
While this was made famous by The Freebirds, it has been used numerous times in wrestling history. Other well known teams to use this rule was Demolition (wtih Crush as the third member), The Jersey Triad (DDP, Bigelow, Kanyon), and I believe the Spirit Squad (verification needed).
With four, large brawlers capable of defending the titles, fans are already wondering who's capable of taking the titles away from the new champs.
