That is a fairly good point, but I don't question the magic

That is not a very comforting thought. (What does her mom look like? That might be a better gauge...)

"The Anvil" isn't necessarily ugly. it's called being "ruggedly hansome"! now, if Mick Foley had been the father, i'd be a bit disturbed by the thought. like freak, i'd have to know what the mother looks like, to figure out how Nattie got to be good looking.

Well, Mick's kids aren't exactly ugly. They obviously take after their mother.

you obviously have to get your genes from both sides of the family. those that are fortunate get good genes from at least 1 parent. too bad i don't fall into that category.
(alright, i'm setting you fuckers up for some pot shots. have a blast!)

i get a laugh at genetics. you can get 1 parent that has all the best genes. born with perfect hair, has a perfect smile, physically gifted in any sport he/she goes for, naturally intelligent (there are people that never have to work at getting smarter).......you name it, they seem to have it all. can dress like a slob & still look fabulous.
then, you get the other parent that that, from the moment of birth, looks like they belong in a home for the retarded. in cases like this, they can't seem to do anything right.....hair always looks bad, even after spending insane amounts of money to fix it up. no matter what that person does, their smile resembles something you'd expect out of a redneck in the backwoods of a Deliverence-esque movie. boils forming all over the body.....they can't look good if they had Donald Trump's fortune (or wardrobe).
it's fun as hell trying to guess at what the kid will look like. will the good genes win? or, do we get a real life Bubba J?
then, you get those surprises in life.......stuff that even Christ himself would have a hardtime predicting. in some cases, you get 2 "perfect" parents......best of everything, blah blah blah. kid ends up being the complete opposite in every way, imagineable.
shit.....i remember always hearing of how much of a loser i'd be as an adult. while many people will probably agree that it's true (don't matter to me if people think it or not), i'm just glad i ain't like a lot of other people. a former prick of a neighbor of mine, for example, had 2 sons.....1 of which was in my age group. the father was a music professor at an area university. don't know what the mother did (she was "well off", whatever she did). both parents highly educated.
what happens is the oldest son gets himself into deep shit with the law. apparently, he decided to have sex with 2 14-year old girls. he was right around 28 years old, himself, at that time. must've assumed that it was okay to screw them, as their combined age was equal to his own......at least, that's the theory my family had.
last i heard, he was still in prison. while that's not exactly the same as genetics (some pervs claim that their bad behavior is genetic....i don't buy it myself), i think it helps prove that good families don't mean shit. good genes with the parents don't always mean much.
sometimes, i think nature (or God, take your pick) llikes to throw curve balls. i know one gal that had several kids, in her life. while i'm only familiar with 2 of her kids, i think i can see a major difference between the two.
one of the kids was born with more health issues then you can shake a stick at. kidney had to be replaced twice, that i know of. he missed a good hunk of the 3rd grade, because of it. held back a few times, in other grades, because of different medical problems. miracle that he lived long enough to graduate, let alone being able to make it until 30.
the other son that i know was completely different. seemed to have a pretty normal childhood (normal for where we live, anyway). ended up on a huge growth spurt, after i last knew him. went into the Marines, became a sniper, served in the early parts of Gulf War 2.
while he doesn't discuss a lot about the military (normal enough behavior), he's had a pretty normal life. same genes as his handicapped brother. yet, both guys ended up completely different, largely due to genetics.
