Umaga has been released, as of today. He got "future endeavor-ed", which is odd since just last night he was in a PPV match. Anyone, any ideas?

It does seem odd, second odd one this week. I wonder if they are trying to get rid of some higher paid guys who they don't have plans for or something.

Well, Umaga isn't higher paid he hasn't done anything to deserve the cash. This is probably just a trim the fat move for a guy that never was that great

this is far more then "trimming the fat". for WWE to fire someone so soon after a PPV, something had to have happened. now, if memory serves me right, Umaga has failed the Drug Policy. think he was on strike 2, if i'm not mistaken. it's possible that he struck out.

What happened? This guy was never a draw... he was never really monstrously hated and after they decided to scrap him as an unstoppable monster nobody gave a shit about him. If they wanted to, they could have pushed him in a face role, but they opted not too. Then he was out, and then he came back and nobody cared and he hasn't really been rolling in wins.
This was an inevitable move, with or without the above mentioned possible "Strike Out. I could list a number of reasons why he got his ass fired....
-He was average or below average in the ring. -He got next to no reaction from the crowd since Armando was taken away from him. -He looked like crap on a physical level and probably wasn't doing what he was told. -Its altogether plausible that he was busted for something -He NEVER said anything... so obviously his time was gonna be limited. -Without being an unstoppable monster, he had no gimmick.
And there you go, a few reasons why its amazing that he wasn't fired WAY before this, but why it shouldn't shock anybody that he got fired now. And "right after a PPV" was because they probably wanted to give him this last chance against CM Punk to see if he could be saved... the answer was no and the end of the feud was the end of his stint in WWE.

OK, this is from the E themselves, so this should explain a lot
As reported on WWE.com on Monday, June 8, 2009, WWE Superstar Umaga (Edward Fatu) has been released from his World Wrestling Entertainment contract. However, consistent with the practice of announcing wellness policy violations, it should be noted that Umaga's termination was due to his second violation of the WWE Wellness Program and his subsequent refusal to attend a rehabilitation facility.

the 2nd strike, plus refusing rehab, would be consistant. far as i'm concerned, good riddance.

Just as a side note, with the list of suspensions coming down sometime in the next couple of weeks, a guy to keep an eye on is Randy Orton. He's main-eventing with them and is on his 2nd strike. 3rd strike means termination, but enough about him
Reports say that TNA was interested in both him and Kennedy, however with this out I doubt they go after him now.

i think Orton's safe. there's a small group of guys in WWE that can seemingly do no wrong. on rare occassion, they get a slap on the wrist, just to make things appear fair & unbiased. personally, i believe Orton is one of those guys that will always get the slap on the wrist.
considering he's been accused of stuff like trashing hotel rooms, allegedly shitting in diva's gym bags & God knows what else, Orton pretty much can't seem to get punished for anything.
even if WWE canned Orton, i wouldn't care. i haven't watched a full WWE show in quite awhile. i haven't watched TNA in ages, either, so i wouldn't care if Orton or Umaga went to TNA.
man, wrestling has gotten bad, over the last few years.

While I agree wrestling has gone down the shitter, I have to disagree with your thinking on Orton. Granted, WWE will most likely prove me wrong, but I do believe if he failed a 3rd test they would fire him. For two reasons, A. They would have to, as he's already been suspended twice. If they didn't, you'd have quite a few people pissed off that you didn't. B. Vince has proved he can let people go that are hot at the time and recover. Both Hardys were big when they left, and you saw Vince turn both reasons into a storyline eventually. If Orton fails, I have no doubt he will get rid of him. Plus, other backstage reports say that Vince is getting more and more pissed daily because of ratings and etc. so it would definitely seem plausible to me.

with Vince's reported irritability, i could see Orton being canned. however, i see that being more of a factor then failing drug tests. guess i'm of the belief that Vince prefers protecting the people that he feels are invaluable.
