as much as the DVD interests me, i don't know if i could handle the WWE Spin. in most DVDs, i can put up with their revisionist history. might be a bit difficult to swallow, this time.
many of the matches might make this worthwhile.

The winners write history, but I do see a lot of matches on there I'd really like to see. Might just have to suck it up and deal

that's about the way it works, too. if WCW had won, you know WWE would be placed in a whole different light. we'd probably hear crap like "so & so in the NWA/WCW created Wrestlemania, only for Vince to steal it", "Vince was constantly trying to sabotage us", ex-WWE wrestlers would make Vince out to be an evil moron who couldn't do anything right (that might have some form of truth to it ).

First off, I bought the Monday Night Wars DVD the other day from FYE because it was on sale and I have to say, THAT DVD disappointed me severely. Why? Because if you believe what they say, WWF were the good guys, the "Jedi Knights" and WCW was the evil fucking empire. I noticed that as far as focus went, it was about sixty percent WWF crap being talked about to forty percent WCW. Very disappointing, why? Because they spent more fucking time talking about WCW BEFORE Nitro was created than after. Even then, the cruiserweights and nWo hogged the spotlight while Goldberg got a little blurb on him (really, couldn't they have talked about HIM like they did Stone Cold and the fucking Rock?). We saw NOTHING on Sting, little on Lex Luger, NOTHING on Diamond Dallas Page (who in my mind was made into a homegrown star with WCW, much like Goldberg) and the DVD bashed WCW for not putting over younger guys BUT completely forgot to mention to the infamous New Blood-Millionaire's Club angle that launched many smaller, younger guys into a company wide angle. The DVD was very tilted toward WWF and I hope this isn't the same.
Anywho, the matches on this DVD fucking suck. Why? It doesn't even begin to showcase the talent that WCW had. Instead, we get the same people OVER and OVER again. Really, where's Mike Sanders who played a VERY big role in WCW's final days as one of the most over younger guys they had and the leader of the Natural Born Thrillers? Where's Mike Awesome, who despite being stuck with a shitty gimmick, still had some good matches in 2000-2001 with the company. Where's "The Franchise" Shane Douglas, who was in the early 90's a WCW World Tag Champ and later on the US Champion? Don't get me wrong, the DVD has some pretty good matches tossed in there. The only problem is that once you hit the early 90's as far as their chronology goes, you start getting some of the same people in every match it seems. Then we only get ONE 1999-2001 match which is disappointing for me, as I though some good things went on among all of the bad (anyone remember Disco Inferno and Alex Wright as a tag team?). I'm hoping this DVD don't end up being as bad as it seems like it may be......but as it stands right now, I'll probably watch this on Youtube to see how it is before I would buy it.
