I'm not sure if this is just me, but has anyone noticed all the WCW stuff out and about lately? SvR 2009 has a WCW roster selection on it, Rise and fall of WCW has been releaced and the last "Where are they now" on WWE.com i read was based on DDP, one of WCW top names...
The last time a Rise and Fall DVD was released through WWE it was a short while before ECW became a WWE event again if im not mistaken, so tell me if im wrong but these signs seem to be beginning to point towards a WCW return??
Just my opinion, obvisouly i cant say if its happening lol. but in all honesty i would Love to see it happen along with all the WCW big names that they can get? Anyone else noticed anything similar??

I don't think WCW will make a comeback and I'll tell you why, simply put, there's not a lot of former WCW big namers out there that they could bring in. MAYBE Hogan, DDP and Luger, possibly Lance Storm and some of the guys like Elix Skipper, Shawn Stasiak, Mark Jindrak, Big Vito, Johnny the Bull and stuff that came in later, but that's it. They have Kidman under contract in FCW as a trainer, I think, as well as Norman Smiley. They have Jericho, Miisterio, Big Show and Chavo under contract, but that's it. Unlike ECW, which has a lot of former stars still out there and active, WCW has seen a lot of it's top guys go to TNA or retire. That would equal a disasterous comeback, but if they DO bring back WCW, let's hope Bobby Eaton and Heavy Metal Van Hammer are part of the deal :-)

ECW had more of a rabid cult following than WCW, that's why the Rise and Fall of ECW DVD was such a huge success.

True, greendragon, but WCW did have a pretty strong fanbase, especially in the Southeast. I know a lot of people here in the ewrestling community alone that grew up like me, watching strictly WCW and no WWE and I actually live in NY. They, on the other hand, are mainly from the South and literally live, eat, sleep and crap old school NWA, Jim Crockett Promotions and WCW. Plus unlike ECW, the WCW DVD would appeal to mainstream fans. That being said, I predict this WCW DVD will eclipse the ECW DVD in sales. Even at it's height, ECW was only a glorified indy company that only appealed to a small group of fans. WCW was globa, it was actually beating WWE for a brief time period, I'd say there's probably more old school WCW fans out there than ECW fans any day of the week, to be honest.

big difference between WCW & TNA. WCW was actually in a position to take down WWE, at one point. TNA, at best, was an alternative to WWE. with Turner's huge financial backing, WCW had the ability to take on WWE. unless TNA gains such a backer, they'll be more like ECW then WCW (ie, overglorified Indy promotion).
plus, WCW has no chance of coming back. there's a select group of people who most fans recognize as former WCW Stars. of those people, many of them are either out of the business or coming close to doing so. i'll take a look at some of them.
Sting-with TNA. likely to retire, after his contract runs out. Foley-had a run with WCW as Cactus Jack. currently with TNA. doesn't have much of an in-ring career left, at this point. Luger-i believe he's still recovering from a Spinal Stroke. i think he makes a few appearances for Wrestling Conventions, in the south, as well as a few autograph sessions. that's about the extent of it, to my knowledge. Hogan-he'll be lucky if he has a few crappy matches left in him. Flair-same as Hogan. doesn't have much left in him. Vader-is he still wrestling? Jericho-under WWE Contract. likely wouldn't be used for such a restart. Chavo-under WWE Contract. he's a maybe. Bischoff-I think he's out of wrestling, for good. Jim Ross-probably going to retire, sooner rather then later. Lance Storm-i think he's busy training students. does the odd match, from time to time. in-ring career is pretty much over. Syxx/X-Pac-wrestling in Mexico, last i heard.....AAA, i believe.
too many of the former WCW are either retired, in TNA or in WWE. many of the guys in WWE & TNA are either near retirement or would suffer, if going to the restarted WCW. i can't see this working.

One guy that WWE probably could use for such a WCW relaunch is Sid Vicious as he's back wrestling, has a full schedule doing indy shows to be honest, looks better than ever.
Another is Road Warrior Animal, who was with WCW at the end of it's existence and could be brought back.
Another name, though I doubt he ever would, is Scott Hall, as he IS still active, mainly for JCW, the ICP's promotion.

maybe once Russo is done killing TNA, he could join the re-start of WCW. then, he could help kill that incarnation of it.
