~Y Kores poor showing at Natural Selection was reportedly due to the fact that Adriana Samu was ill. She had just been recovering from a bout of the swine flu. We reported earlier that all three ladies were receiving the H1N1 vaccines in their resident Canadian provinces before heading to the Natural Selection taping, but because of vaccine shortages in Alberta Samu was not able to be immunized and fell ill about a week before the PPV. As a result, the ladies were not able to honor any of their publicity obligations before the PPV and their loss was the concequence. Samu was able to fulfill her contractual obligation for the PPV (against doctors orders, incidentally), but just barely; she had to leave right after her match. Samu is now in great health and is back in the gym training.
~As we reported earlier, Octavia "Rory Kotch" Stephanova and husband Alexander (Xander Nova) were able to get vaccinated in British Columbia despite vaccine shortages in that province because Octavia, who suffers from respiratory problems, was deemed a member of the high-risk population. Petrina Rotchester had no problem receiving the vaccine in Toronto. Samu has now been vaccinated, as well as a precaution.
~The Y Kores quartet were planning to take the month of December off for various holiday-related reasons but because of Samu's illness and subsequent Natural Selection loss, the ladies had decided to take the rest of November off, as well, and will be returning in the New Year.
~Octavia Stephanova, who was born in East Berlin and lived there until the fall of the Soviet Union before moving to Moscow, and her husband were in attendance at celebrations in Berlin commemorating the 20 year anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
~Speaking of the Stephanovas, they will be spending the holidays in Calgary, Alberta, with Samu and her brothers.
~Petrina Rotchester will be spending the holidays with her gigantic family in Northern Ireland.
