Not sure if I am the only retired one from feds on this board as I don't know everyone here. But my question is if you are retired from feds do you miss it?
I have been retired from them since April or May of 2009. I was burned out at that point having done them most of the time since 2002. I miss it in a lot of ways, I don't pretend that I was the best RPer but I usually had fun doing it. I made a lot of friends in my time doing it and it was always good for interacting with people.
The next question is why did you retire? I guess my best answer to this is the job I now have. Once June hits I work a lot of 12-14 hour days in a row getting ready for elections first one in September and the next one in November. So most of the time I just don't feel like doing it anymore.
Anyway, just thought it might make for some interesting convo about it.

I would miss it. Its like one of those addications you try to fight but it gets the best of you. I can say I've been roleplaying on and off since 1999. But didn't really get into and the way I've been going since 2001. That being said I'd say growing up and moving onto other things in my life would much likely be my reason to leaving.
I don't know when I will officially walk away. I did think back in December that I'd move away. Yet it didn't feel right or the time to leave. Which seems to be my issue.

i think i've been fedding since 2000, though it hasn't for the whole time. i've had my share of breaks from fedding. there was a point where i got away from fedding, thought it was going to be for good.
i can remember when CGH had started up his fed. always knew that i would have an open spot, should i choose to join. took me awhile, but somewhere along the line, i finally had the urge to finally get back into this.
once they shut down, i found myself being more selective on where i participated. used to be a time i'd join as many feds as possible and participate as much as possible. now, i think i keep it at a max of 3 feds.
i'm sure i'll eventually leave fedding, for good. probably happen when i no longer have fun with it.

I've been doing it off and on for over a decade...there was a period of about three years between 2001 and 2004 that I stopped doing it because it just wasn't fun anymore (that plus I had limited access to computers back then for some reason). Almost left it in 2006 after the collapse of the fed I was helping to run but got back into a groove and started having fun again with it.
I hate the booking aspect, because it just requires so much out of you and I'm just not good at writing anything other than promos.

booking can be a pain in the ass, many times. anyone that's been a booker long enough has had to deal with people flaking out, difficult members, and a nice variety of other such problems.

Booking aged my fedding life a lot I would say. I did it most of the time of UHW (I'd say roughly 3 and half of the 5 it was around) and it has a lot of factors that makes you really just want to be done. It can become like a job at somepoints.

i know the feeling. i've booked for another fed and honestly, it wears a person down. honestly does feel like a job. i would find that my promos would go down in quality, because my own characters practically took a back seat to my booking duties.

Well, I started in 2006 i think, in the Fed that Matt Mentioned, UHW, and for my time there, about 4 of the 5 years i was a rather persistant roleplayer, yeah i had my odd times i missed deadlines, or had other problems like i've done here as well, but i loved it. Now my biggest problem is writing, I've thought about leaving for good twice here, and i had done once in UHW. But something keeps bringing me back As for booking, i never really got the chance to do it properly, i came close once or twice... but never as a fully-fludged booker. I enjoy my time roleplaying, i just struggle nowadays to get the words to promo haha.

Its true, Freak. If I didn't work the hours I did half the time I'd still do it somehow or another.
