"I Can't Surf" by Reverend Horton Heat blares over the PA system, and there's a mix of cheers and cat calls as "Rowdy" Ronnie Yates skates down the aisle to the ring.
Monica Deluca: This match is set for one fall. First, from Santa Cruz, CA and weighing 215 pounds, "Rowdy" Ronnie Yates. And his opponent, already in the ring... from Oklahoma City, OK and weighing 224 pounds, Ryne Sunberg!
Mark Followill: "Rowdy" Ronnie Yates, one of the many newcomers to SNW looking to make a name for himself.
Jason Martel: He likes to skateboard. I already don't like him.
Ronnie gets in the ring and referee Mike Croft signals for the bell. Yates and Sunberg lock up, with Yates gaining the early advantage with a side headlock. Sunberg backs Yates into the ropes, then pushes him off, sending him bouncing off the opposite ropes. But Sunberg's plan backfires as Yates nails him with a cartwheel kick that elicits a nice pop from the crowd. Sunberg staggers up, but Yates takes him down with a dropkick to the knee. Yates picks Sunberg's leg up and kicks him in the hamstring several times in succession. Yates, holding onto Sunberg's foot, falls over and pulls Sunberg's hamstring as Sunberg screams out in pain.
Mark Followill: Yates working over Sunberg's leg.
Jason Martel: I might come around on Yates here if he continues to hurt people like this.
Yates picks Sunberg up by the head and brings him over to the corner, ramming him headfirst into the turnbuckle pad. Yates then hits Sunberg with a flurry of rapid karate kicks in the corner, then monkey flips Sunberg to the middle of the ring. With Sunberg down, Yates climbs the top turnbuckle. Yates comes flying off the top turnbuckle and nails Sunberg with a flying leg drop. Not one to let up, Yates runs to the ropes, springboards and nails a moonsault(basically doing the lionsault). But Yates refuses to make the cover, as he goes to climb the top rope again as Sunberg slowly tries to get up. Yates is on the top turnbuckle, and Sunberg gets up, turns around, but only to be met by Yates flying off the top and nailing him with an X-Factor from the top.
Mark Followill: Flying X-Factor off the top rope! Cover... ONE... TWO... THREE!
Monica Deluca: Your winner of the match, "Rowdy" Ronnie Yates!
Jason Martel: Yates made short work of Ryne Sunberg, but let's see how he'll fare against stronger competition.
