The scene opens up to what is obviously a fancy restaurant. There’s polished wooden tables all over the place, candles on each table, as well as rather extravagant lighting fixtures in the room. We also see paintings, sculptures and other various forms of artwork around the place. Tonight seems to be a rather slow night in this place, there’s not exactly a packed house…..but there’s still quite a few people scattered throughout the room at the tables. The cameras start to pan inward toward one of the tables in the back of the room and we see two men sitting opposite one another at it. Both are wearing suits, one a black one and the other a blue one. Both also have plates of food and drinks in front of them on the table and as the camera approaches, we hear some of their conversation.
Kayden: Hey, man, that First Blood battle royal was a successful debut for you. I mean, only four people got to advance to this tournament for number one contendership to that title and you were one of the four. That’s a win, if you ask me.
With a shrug of a shoulder, Johnny Moxie looks across the table at his friend and shakes his head. He had known Kayden for a while, now. Well, since the middle part of this past summer, but the one thing that he had come to know about Kay was that he was just as passionate about the business as he was, if not more. Heck, Kayden was actually a wrestler and had been overseas to Japan several times throughout his career.
Johnny: Yeah, it was a win, I suppose. Still, the thought of me sharing a win with the other three asshats that were there at the end of that battle royal kind of defeated the whole impact that me being there had. I mean, I’m being mentioned in the same sentence as Jack Clinton, Viper and Adriana Samu now. I take that as a slap in the face.
With this, he looks down and picks up a dinner roll from the basket in the center of the table and then dunks it into the spaghetti sauce that’s on his plate. He then lifts it up to his mouth and takes a few bites out of it before setting it down on his plate.
Kayden: Well, it was bound to happen that way, man. Four people were supposed to get to this point of things, it’s not like there was only supposed to be one person left in that battle royal. That battle royal was basically a way for SNW management to narrow down the field of contender’s for the Von Erich Memorial title for this tournament. You should be happy, Mox.
After saying this, Kayden raises up his glass of beer and takes a sip of it. Johnny sighs and finishes off his dinner roll. After he swallows it, he looks over at his friend and colleague and shakes his head with several deep breaths.
Johnny: Why should I be happy? Now I have to waste my time over the next few weeks facing Adriana Samu this week and either Viper or Clinton in the finals. I don’t see why that should make me happy, Kay. It’s just a waste of time on my part, this tournament is just prolonging the inevitable.
As if he was prepared for this, Kayden nods and then looks sideways at Mox from across the table. He smirks.
Kayden: Come on, now, how many people could you think of in ANY wrestling company that gets automatically into contention for a title like you have with the Von Erich Memorial title? I can’t even name any, to be honest. You have a golden opportunity and I’m not saying that because a title shot is on the line in this tournament you’re in. I’m saying it because I’ve been brushing up on my SNW history and I haven’t seen anybody really do what you have the chance to do here. You can win this tournament, win the Von Erich title and not even have a loss tacked on to your name.
With a raise of his eyebrow, Moxie sighs and shakes his head as he raises up the glass of wine that he’s having with his dinner.
Johnny: Goldberg?
This causes Kayden to raise his eyebrow. He hadn’t the slightest a clue what his friend was talking about and this one word didn’t offer any clues.
Kayden: What? Goldberg? What do you mean, Mox?
With a sigh as he lowers his glass of wine, Moxie looks across the table at his friend and then down at his plate of spaghetti.
Johnny: Bill Goldberg. WCW. He went on that nasty undefeated streak and held the United States title during that whole run. Basically, you’re suggesting that I’d pull a Goldberg here, win this tournament and capture the Von Erich Memorial title without suffering the agony of defeat.
There seems to be a hint of sarcasm in his last few words and he shakes his head, wrapping some spaghetti around his fork as he twirls it around his plate. Meanwhile, Kayden smirks a little and then he nods.
Kayden: I’m kind of saying something like that, but it would be different, too. Goldberg was a big guy, given some of the names WCW put it in front of him, it was no wonder he went undefeated. You’re not exactly the size that Goldberg was. If you happen to breeze through this tournament and make it into that title match that the winner gets and actually win the title, that would speak volumes for your abilities. It wouldn’t be like…….oh, there’s another seven foot tall monster dominating littler guys…
He shakes his head and his grin seems to get wider.
Kayden: It’d be more like there’s Johnny Moxie. There’s a guy who’s using his high flying ability and brain power to beat everyone tossed in front of him. Truth be told, Mox, I’d rather have a streak like the one that you could have as opposed to the one a three hundred pound, seven foot tall guy could have. Of course, you have to advance in this tournament to actually even think about that title or a streak. You can’t get anywhere like that if you lose in the first round.
With a dull smirk, Moxie takes another sip of wine and shakes his head.
Johnny: Please, Kay, is there any real doubt that I’ll win this first round match? I’m facing Adriana Samu, for God’s sake. She’s a Canadian with the last name of a damn Samoan. Not only that, but in all honesty, I didn’t see her do ANYTHING in that First Blood battle royal that could really strike fear into my heart and make me dread facing her.
He shakes his head and sloshes the remaining contents of his wine glass around before downing them and putting the glass down beside his plate of food. He shakes his head and looks over at Kayden, any smirks or smiles now gone from his face.
Johnny: Honestly, when I signed with SNW, I was under the impression that Silvus, Enigmah, Wench, Adriana, that they were all some of the bigger names in the company and people that would be potential threats to me on my journey to the top of the company. In all honesty, I haven’t seen anything from Samu in anything that I’ve seen in video footage both past and present to make me think for one second that she’s an elite anything. Samu isn’t in the upper echelon of SNW and I’d risk another stab in the dark by saying that she’s grossly over rated as well. I know that when I heard I was facing her this week on Onslaught, the first thing that went through my mind was why didn’t Gordon Heath just give me a damn first round bye in this tournament? It’d be the same as facing Adriana.
With a shrug of his right shoulder, Kayden shakes his head.
Kayden: Well, you can’t look at this match as a win already. You know how things work. It doesn’t matter if it’s SNW, NWA or any other company…….anything can happen on any given night in that ring. You’re walking into this thinking that you’ve got yourself a victory no matter what, Adriana is probably walking into this thinking the same exact thing. Who knows? Maybe she could beat you? You never know what could happen in the ring.
This causes Moxie to look over at his friend dully. Finally, after a few minutes, he shakes his head and smiles as he raises the forkful of spaghetti that he has and puts it into his mouth. After chewing it all and eating it, he looks over at Kayden and takes a deep breath.
Johnny: Kayden, you know what I’ve done. You know what I’m capable of. I’m against a dumb broad that calls herself Everyone’s Favorite Canadian Lady. Seriously, Kay, I’m against someone that for some strange reason has decided to mention herself with such company as the Hart family, Chris Benoit and every other Canadian wrestler that she could think of.
This causes Kayden to shrug a shoulder again.
Kayden: Well, you know the Harts are like national heroes up there in the Great White North. So isn’t Benoit, even though all of that crap happened with him back in 2007.
This, in turn, causes Moxie to roll his eyes.
Johnny: Yeah, Bret Hart is considered a wrestling god in Canada and look where he is. He’s one kick to the head away from forgetting who in the hell he is or even what his name is. As far as I’m concerned, Samu can keep comparing herself to those so called big Canadian superstars, because let’s face it……the ONLY real Canadian superstar to have any lasting popularity was Bret Hart and I’ve already said what that poor guy has wound up becoming. Other than Bret, there’s really nobody to have come from Canada that will have any lasting legacy in this sport. If Samu thinks she’ll change that, then I really want to know what she’s smoking and where I can pick up some of it. She’s not my favorite lady from ANYWHERE and she’s definitely not the next Von Erich Memorial Champion. That distinction will be mine.
He shakes his head again and sighs.
Johnny: You know, you can say what you want to, but my opinion about Adriana hasn’t changed and it won’t. I’m Johnny Moxie, I’m on the cusp of becoming the biggest superstar that SNW has ever seen. She’s not a future champion, she’s not going to win this match her and I have, all Adriana Samu will end up being in the grand scheme of things is just a stepping stone for me on my way to the top of this company. When I take my rightful place atop of SNW in due time, nobody will remember or care about Samu as being a Canadian, or maybe even the fact that she was trained in the Dungeon……you know, that is pretty awesome, but there’s no way in hell that being trained by that washed up old hack Stu in his basement makes HER better than ME by any means……nobody will remember anything about her. In due time, ALL anybody that watches SNW and any of the people that are fans of this sport will remember her as is the woman that Johnny Moxie beat in his first singles match EVER in SNW. Plus, there’ll be that asterisk there in the history books that tell anybody that wishes to learn more about Samu’s accomplishments that she was the first person that I beat on my road to the Von Erich Memorial title. That’s all she’ll be remembered for, nothing else. As far as I’m concerned, Gordon Heath should just go ahead and sign the match already…..me versus Omerta for the title because that IS what it’s going to come down to. I may not have been trained in a basement, I may not be from a country that’s content with it’s mediocrity and gets behind some so called “heroes” like Bruce Hart, Lance Storm and Jacques Rougeau…..but I am Johnny Moxie. I am a wrestler and my main goal in this sport isn’t to carve a career for myself by trying to talk a big game and failing miserably like Samu is, I pride myself on my ability to actually win matches and back up what I say. Samu is going to find that out first hand at Onslaught and when it’s all said and done and that bell rings, Adriana Samu won’t be anything more than just another casualty to the revolution of SNW that is Johnny Moxie. That, Kay, is so damn true, that it might as well be the gospel.
Kayden: Hey, man, that First Blood battle royal was a successful debut for you. I mean, only four people got to advance to this tournament for number one contendership to that title and you were one of the four. That’s a win, if you ask me.
