Scene opens in a building that is set up for an indy wrestling show. Signs around the room indicate this is PZW, a promotion operating in Southern Alberta, Canada. The camera pans around to show a few fans sitting in the seats at ringside, but more standing in a long line that winds throughout the room. At the end of the line there is a table with a large “Y Kores” banner. “Everyone’s Favourite Canadian Lady” Adriana Samu and “The Assassin” Rory Kotch are sitting at the table with an empty seat between them, and their SNW Texas Tag Team Titles propped up beside them. They are greeting their fans and signing autographs when “The Other Girl” Petrina Rotchester comes in and sits down to a considerable cheer from the fans. Throughout their conversation, the ladies continue to sign autographs.
You know, when I said six, I didn’t mean six thirty.
Sorry. I got talkin’ with the boys backstage. It’s so nice o’them to have us ‘ere tonight to meet the fans.
Rotchester reaches in her bag and pulls out a title, propping it beside her on the table like her stablemates. She waves someone forward as Samu and Kotch stare at her, confused.
Vhat is that?
It’s a Championship Belt.
What?
Vhere did you get that?
Whaddya mean, where did I get it? Y Kores is the SNW Texas Tag Team Champions, and I’m in Y Kores. Where did ye get YOUR belt?
I climbed a steel cable and pulled it off, aftervard beink hurricanranaed into the freakink ground. I don’t recall you beink there.
Well, because o’the Freebird Rule, I’m the champ, too. But I didn’t get a belt to carry around, an’ now I have one.
Never mind that…Vhere did you GET it?
Rotchester mumbles something under her breath as she signs another autograph and poses for a picture with a young man.
What? Did you say SNW.com!?
You BOUGHT a replica title belt!?
Rotchester crosses her arms and pouts like a toddler.
I asked Gordon ‘Eath for a real one, but ‘e said no.
I thought we agreed before the match last week that because Rory and I actually did the work, we got to carry the titles.
Well, I felt left out!
So you BOUGHT a replica title belt!?
Whatever. Just make sure you keep tabs on where that is. We don’t need to walk into our next title defense with only one genuine belt and one replica because we’re in a hurry or something. I’m sure management would frown upon that.
The ladies are interrupted by a man with has a “media” tag and a note pad.
Excuse me, ladies, do you mind if I get a word for the local paper?
Ask away.
Y Kores continues meeting fans while the reporter interviews them.
First, well, um…Miss Rotchester, where did you get that title?
[interrupting] Don’t ask.
Ok….then I was wondering what you want to say to your fans about becoming the first all-female team in SNW to win the Texas Tag Team Titles?
We are so freaking excited!
The fans, who have been listening, let out a cheer of congratulations.
We are very privileged to have this opportunity to represent the company by being the Champions. We believe very much in the principles that SNW operates under and we are very honoured to be one of it’s Champions.
Ve have vorked hard to live up to the expectations put on us by SNW by bookink us eqvally vith the men in the company, and ve vill continue to live up to the expectations put on us by the fans to be great wrestlers and great champions.
You are in action this week against Alley Ratz and Alex Daniels – how will winning these title have an affect on your upcoming match?
I don’t understand…I suppose the SNW brass will be watching all our non-title matches closely to determine the next #1 Contenders…
…not to mention the rest of the tag team division – they vill be studyink us lookink for veakness to swoop in and steal our titles…
What I mean is that you three have been on a media blitz since last Saturday – signing autographs, doing interviews, and meeting your fans and the press throughout Texas and now here in Alberta...
What ‘e’s askin’ is are we ready for our match or are we distracted by all this attention. ‘E’s jus’ tryin’ to be tactful about it.
[laughing] We will be ready, don’t worry.
Anyvone, includink our opponents this veek, vould be foolish to think ve have not been preparink for this match this whole time.
We intend t’be fightin’ Champions, an’ in order to do that we ‘ave to keep trainin’, even when we’re busy with our non-wrestlin’ contractual obligations.
Finally, have you had a chance to see what your opponents have to say about you and about your upcoming match?
The girls shake their heads no as they continue entertaining the fans.
Well, it seems as if Daniels is not thrilled to be teaming with The Alley Ratz. Twitch indicated that you were lucky at Summer Bash, and Eddy said that they are finally on the right track after turning their backs on the fans.
There are a few boos from the nearby fans, and someone at the back of the room yells “Ratz Suck!” loudly, eliciting a few laughs and a round of cheers.
That Daniels and Alley Ratz are not on the same page doesn’t surprise me, and it’s going to be their major disadvantage. All three of those boys are great wrestlers in their own right, but communication is everything in a tag team match like this, especially when you have to keep track of two other teammates, rather than just one. We have flawless communication in the ring, which is why we’re the champs and the Alley Ratz are not. If they can get their shit together before Saturday we might have an even match, but if not…well, luck won’t have anything to do with it for us.
Just like luck had nothink to do vith it at Summer Bash. Ve had a game plan goink in, and ve executed that plan. Ve vere on those cables every chance ve had, and it paid off. Time and time again ve have proved that ve are a capable and successful team and ve finally have the hardvare to prove it.
If Eddy ‘n’ Twitch think that turnin’ their backs on the fans’ve got them on the road to success, they’re sadly mistaken. First of all they haven’t had ANY success since they bashed us in the ‘eads a few weeks ago. All that managed to do was piss us off and focus us even more, which, in turn, led to me teammates’ win at Summer Bash. Secondly, the fans’re everythin’ in this business.
At this, the fans in ear shot of the interview cheer and start an “Y Kores” chant which catches on to fill the entire area for a few seconds.
I personally think that if ye don’t keep their need to be entertained in yer ‘ead at all times, ye jus’ get selfish and unfocused, and ye don’t wrestle to yer fullest ability, an’, in the end, ye don’ win the money matches.
That’s right. If you know you have to leave everything you have in the ring every night you wrestle for these fans to get their money’s worth out of every show, you will put 120% into every match, and that effort puts you ahead of the rest in the title picture.
Ve do just that every time ve step into the rink. Petrina von her match at Summer Bash because she vanted to make sure the fans vere entertained. Adriana and I von our match because ve vere villink to take the risks that insured our success because ve knew the fans vanted to see us take those risks.
An’ that’s why we’ll be champs for a while, too. The fans obviously like us bein’ champs, or we wouldn’t be sitting in front of a retardedly long line up full o’people that came from all over Southern Alberta to see us…
The fans nearby cheer again for the ladies, who salute them.
…and to be honest, we really need to get back to these folks so we can meet as many of them as we can before the show starts.
Well, thank you for your time, ladies, and congratulations on the title win.
The ladies salute the reporter and turn their full attention back to the line up in front of them as the scene ends.
