this should be pretty straight forward. what would be considered the greatest stable to ever exist?

I'm torn right now as of current stables between Nexus, EV 2.0, and Fortune...
Most popular of the three is EV 2.0, but the most dominant is Nexus with the nonstop attacks, even though Fortune did that very bloody attack on iMPACT! But, out of them, Nexus is the best...
All time stables for me was a toss up between Latino World Order, Full Blooded Italians, Main Event Mafia or New World Order...
My favorite, personally is the FBI, but the best of them all was probably the Main Event Mafia.
Speaking for itself, Nexus is giving every other stable to ever exist a run for their money. They are just so dominant.

This is definitely something that can be debated, as there have been many great stables to come down the pike.
While many people credit the Four Horsemen as the group to have started it all, in reality, the Fabulous Freebirds probably deserve the credit. As far as I remember(and correct me if I'm wrong), Michael Hayes, Buddy Roberts and the late Terry Gordy were the first three man team to run rampant over any wrestling territory they stepped foot in. And last I checked, more than two wrestlers makes a stable. So in reality, the Freebirds(unless there's another group I never knew about) should get the credit for being the first stable of wrestling.
As for personal favorites of mine, they would include the Freebirds, the Von Erichs, the Four Horsemen, the Heenan Family, the Hart Foundation, and the nWo for starters.

The stable that had the most impact when it comes to recent history is the nWo. It was a groundbreaking idea that pretty much set in stone the whole attitude era concept on both sides being WCW & WWE. Having the top babyface of all time and then turn him heel, side him with two new signees and you got yourself a storyline that has many options. Now I don't like what came of it down the line and how it became pretty stale and the last ditch effort everytime WCW needed some kind of quick fix.
As for title wise or pure talent wise. I think the Four Hoursemen that consisted of Ric Flair, Barry Windham, Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard will forever be the best collective group of guys associated to a stable. Add in that at one time all four guys held the top titles of the NWA, being the World, U.S and World Tag Team. That kind of gives you an idea of there dominance.

i'd say any combination of the 4 Horsemen, during the early years. they rank the highest, in my own mind. however, i'd also rank the nWo pretty high up there. the Heenan Family ranks somewhere in the top 5, purely because Heenan seemed to have a never ending supply of people to do his dirty work. it could be getting someone to try & take down Hogan. could be capturing the IC or Tag Team gold. could be going after anyone he wanted. he had the manpower to do it.
i think the Freebirds fall under some grey area. i think some people might view them more as a 3 man tag team, as opposed to an actual stable. typically, a wrestling stable was a group of people working under the direction of 1 (maybe 2) people (Horsmen had JJ Dillon, nWo had Hogan & Bischoff, Heenan Family had Heenan). i'm not sure the Freebirds had any kind of true boss or leader, to speak of.
