Well, I've recently begun work on a backup board for us over at InvisionFree just in case something went haywire with Proboards. However, after putting the skin into the backup board, I thought it looked rather nice. However, I would only move to the backup forum if one of several things happened: 1) If Proboards were to go under 2) If Proboards was to delete our board for whatever reason 3) If someone somehow messed up our forum But most importantly, I would only consider a move if... everyone here wanted to move to the InvisionFree board. I had it offline as I hadn't intended to move there, just have it as a backup. However, I have put it online so you can all see what it looks like(it's a work in progress). z7.invisionfree.com/SNW/index.php?One thing I have noticed is that GFX for whatever reason seem to look better on Invision boards than Proboards, but that could just be me. Anyway, I want to hear everyone's thoughts here.

I think that we should stay here until otherwise, but a select few of us should post everything as a backup on that site in case this board goes under.

Thanks for your input, Vince. Like I told you on Yahoo, you won't have to worry about us constantly relocating. Anyway, registration is open if you want to copy and paste your stats under the Singles Sign Up sub-board found under Sign Your Contract. When I get the RP boards up, you'll be free to post your old RPs there too if you like. However, for now, until a) a decision is made and b) the forum is complete, we are staying here at Proboards for now. I'll let you all know if we do move, again, pending feedback from all of you.

i can see the logic of taking precautions, just in case. i had problems with a proboard account, years ago. can't remember what i was trying to do, but a bunch of stuff started disappearing. couldn't retrieve any of it.
so, with that regard, we do need a back-up. i'm personally in no hurry to make the switch. see no need to do so, unless something were to take place here.
may i ask why we're even considering a move?

Good lord, I remember that over at G-Storm Proboards, when everything was disappearing. As for why I might be considering a move, InvisionFree thus far(from what I've been experiencing thus far in building the backup board) seems a bit more user friendly. Couple that with the forum directory that InvisionFree has(where people can find your forum just by putting in their interests at InvisionFree's main page), and there's the potential for more members. I know that Proboards has recently added a directory, but it's so new, while Invision's is more established. Just some reasons off the top of my head. But again, this is all up to the members here.

I like the look of invision so I'd be all gung ho for a move. I mean, its not like it'll be hard to move. Simple as make an account, copy and paste your sign up?
Most of the work would be on our dear Matt over there.

Most of the work would be on our dear Matt over there. Pretty much. Once I had the rest of the boards up and running, if everyone copied and pasted their sign ups, then all I'd have to copy and paste would be the old shows and old RPs for the Video Vault(though there are a ton of those. lol) If we did move, I would leave these boards up for 1) old times sakes, and 2) it's going to take awhile to copy and paste those old RPs that are in the Video Vault! lol

that's where you have to absolutely make sure that you want to make the move, before you do so. if you're going to be stuck doing an insane amount of work, you'd better make sure that it's absolutely worthwhile.
me personally, i'm not going to complain if we do move. invisionfree is a good board host. it's easy to use, no doubt about it.
i simply have no preference.

I've been in e-feds with Proboards. I've been in e-feds with Invision Free. I prefer Proboards.

It would be a gradual copy/paste process if that were the case. That way I don't drive myself insane. The main reason I'd do it is for you folks. This e-fed is for you guys and gals, and I know you'd hate to see your hard work vanish if something were to happen here or what not. Also, Freak, just curious as to why you prefer Proboards. Not looking to instigate a flamewar. Just would like to hear why you like Proboards better.

The thing is I find Invision unnecessarily complicated compared to Proboards...there's just too much extra stuff tacked on where it doesn't need to be.
(I don't mean that Invision's hard to use...both of these are relatively idiot-proof, but I think the simplicity of the ProBoards layout is so much better.)

You mean as far as piecing a forum together, ie the work the admin does of putting the boards together?(adding boards, moderating topics, etc)

Ah. Well, you wouldn't have to worry about that unless I were to pass the forum off to you. But anywho, I actually used to think that too. Then I started going through the options, and Invision actually isn't all that complicated. Just a lot more that you can do. It just looks more complicated given everything you can do to maintain the forum.
